On the cruises I've been on- Carnival and NCL- the ships' "broadband" Internet Access have been dog slow. It's not surprising since they rely on Satellite technology. The minutes are expensive too- be prepared to pay anywehre from .40 cents/minute to .75 cents/minute. But look for specials on embarkation day- they'll usually give you extra minutes if you buy a plan that day. And also be on the lookout for "Happy Hours" in the Internet Cafe where you'll get charged only for half the minutes you use. If you have a laptop/notebook computer with Wifi wireless capability, you can bring it to the wireless hotspots around the ship (e.g. the Internet cafe) and use it to connect to the net instead.
