Royal Caribbean has officially launched its newest Icon-class vessel, Legend of the Seas, marking its debut in the Mediterranean. The ship is setting a new record as the world's largest cruise ship, measuring 248,660 gross tons and boasting a capacity of 7,600 passengers. Built at the Meyer Turku shipyard, the vessel is scheduled to sail its maiden voyage from Civitavecchia, Italy, visiting ports in France and Spain. Following its Mediterranean season, the ship will reposition to Port Everglades in late October. This addition further expands the line's presence in the ultra-large ship segment. Do you think the trend toward ever-larger cruise ships improves the onboard experience, or does it make navigating the vessel too difficult?
