Carnival Cruise Line has officially confirmed the development of a new class of megaships, internally referred to as Project Ace. These three upcoming vessels, being constructed by Fincantieri in Italy, will feature 230,000 gross tons and accommodate nearly 8,000 guests, making them the largest ships in the Carnival Corporation fleet. The steel-cutting ceremony for the lead ship is scheduled for July 10, with delivery expected in 2029, followed by subsequent deliveries in 2031 and 2033. Carnival president Christine Duffy noted that the increased size allows for a broader range of guest experiences. With the fleet expanding to 30 ships by 2027, how do you feel about the trend toward increasingly larger megaships in the cruise industry?
