Ocean Endeavour Acquired by Mining Firm for Greenland Project Housing

The former expedition cruise ship Ocean Endeavour has been purchased by Critical Metals Corp. for 8.5 million dollars to serve as a floating housing facility in Greenland. The 12,900 gross ton vessel, previously owned by SunStone Marine Group, will accommodate up to 300 workers for the company's Tanbreez rare earth mineral project. Built in 1982 as a Soviet passenger ferry, the ship has a long history of polar operations and recently hosted NATO troops during the Arctic Endurance exercise. This acquisition marks the end of the vessel's career as a commercial cruise ship as it transitions to industrial support. Given the ship's specialized ice-strengthened design, do you think more cruise vessels will be repurposed for remote industrial projects in the future?
