American Cruise Lines officially christened its newest small ship, the American Maverick, during a ceremony in Newport. The vessel, which entered service earlier on June 11, serves as the latest addition to the line's fleet of 28 ships. Susan Renner, board chair and treasurer for the cruise line, served as the godmother for the event, which concluded with a traditional New England lobster bake. The American Maverick is slated to begin Florida sailings roundtrip from St. Petersburg this November. With eight more ships currently under construction, the line continues to expand its presence in the domestic river and coastal cruise market. Would you prefer to sail on a small coastal vessel or a larger river ship?
