Aboard the largest cruise ship in the world, the Oasis of the Seas, it was a bit disappointing to find that no self-service laundry facility was available. We had encountered DIY laundry machines & driers on voyages via Princess and of course the especially family-friendly Disney Cruise Line. Despite not having this convenience aboard, Royal Caribbean did offer a deal which they termed the Wash and Fold Laundry Special. You get a paper bag that is roughly 2 feet tall and stretches to a foot or so wide to fill your laundry with. The crew will then wash, dry and fold your clothing for a flat fee of $30. That was s lightly more expensive than what we saw aboard Norwegian Cruise Line ships, which priced its similar service at $27.99.
Officially, the offer and instructions are described as follows:
For a long cruise like the one transatlantic we had on the ship, such a service made sense. You may also want to get in on it on Oasis' typical 7 night cruises if for instance you are doing a back-to-back, or simply didn't want to bring too much clothes. The latter rationale may even make sense financially because many airlines now charge you for even the first checked luggage. If you are going on a different ship, note that this laundry deal is a universal one across all Royal Caribbean vessels.
